Legendary cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni decided to step down as the skipper of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise ahead of the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Ravindra Jadeja has now taken over the reins of the CSK side from MS Dhoni. And, former CSK player Suresh Raina has taken to Twitter to congratulate Jadeja.

Raina tweeted that he is thrilled for Jadeja, and added that the all-rounder is the best person to take over the leadership duties from Dhoni. Raina also stated that he is confident that Jadeja will live up to the expectations placed on him.

“Absolutely thrilled for my brother. I can’t think of anyone better to take over the reins of a franchise we both had grown up in. All the best Ravindra Jadeja. It’s an exciting phase and I’m sure you will live up to all the expectations and love,” tweeted Suresh Raina. You can see the tweet from Suresh Raina in praise of Ravindra Jadeja below.

MS Dhoni has been the captain of the CSK side since the inception of the IPL

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni has been the skipper of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) side right from the inception of the IPL in 2008. The 40-year-old cricket legend has led the ‘Men in Yellow’ to four IPL titles during his tenure as the skipper, and the CSK outfit has also qualified for the playoffs stages in almost every season (except 2020) of the IPL with Dhoni at the helm of affairs.

Talking about Jadeja, the 33-year-old has a plethora of experience under his belt. Jadeja has featured in 200 IPL matches, and has scored 2386 runs and taken 127 wickets in his IPL career. He has been with the CSK side since the 2012 IPL season.

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will play their opening match of the 2022 edition of the IPL against two-time champions and last year’s runners-up Kolkata Knight Riders on 26th March 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
