Imad Wasim and his quirky new hairstyle during the India-Pakistan encounter in the ICC Champions Trophy
Wasim had a poor outing with the ball as well with Hardik Pandya smashing him for 3 consecutive sixes in the last over.
Stylish hairdos have become part and parcel of sports, especially the ones where sportsmen enjoy a celebrity status. Football is one such game where spectators and viewers get to see some of the quirkiest hairstyles. As can be seen now, cricket is fast catching up with its English sibling.
Speaking of England, it witnessed a rather ‘innovative’ hairstyle by Pakistan’s Imad Wasim on Sunday. The Welsh-born Pakistani cricketer must have doubly felt at home playing in the United Kingdom in front of a packed crowd of Indians and Pakistanis. Imad thus took the liberty to fiddle around with his hairdo a little bit, and the result was certainly comical. He put a band in his hair just around the roots to keep them away while bowling and it spoiled it all for him!
Twitter trolls Imad Wasim
We all know too well that Twitter pounces on every opportunity to troll such characters. Sometimes it’s new words such as ‘covfefe’ while sometimes it’s about silly selfies. Imad Wasim, however, became the butt of all jokes simply because of his hairstyle.
The creativity of Twitterati, coupled with Photoshop skills came to the forefront to poke fun at Wasim, and the results speak for themselves.

Poor outing with the ball
As though the hairstyle jokes weren’t enough, Imad Wasim had a poor outing with the ball as well. Having opened the bowling for Pakistan, he might have thought that this would be a good opportunity to cement his place in the side with some quick wickets. The wickets didn’t come, but Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan weren’t able to smash him all round the park either.
The left-arm spinner maintained an economy rate of 5 from his first six overs. However, things started to slip away at the fag end of the innings when Virat Kohli suddenly revved up his engine. At the other end, Yuvraj Singh was striking the ball as clean as a whistle. Constant rain interruptions didn’t help the bowlers’ cause either.
Pakistan skipper trusted Imad Wasim with the final over of the innings, and boy did Hardik Pandya like it! He greeted Imad with 3 back to back sixes to begin the over, and Virat Kohli fittingly finished it off with a boundary. He leaked 23 off the last one, thus finishing with an economy rate in excess of 7.
The Men in Green looked scratchy all through the chase, and were never a threat to the Indian bowlers. They were eventually handed a thumping 124-run defeat. India had thus made it even stevens with their arch-rivals as far as Champions Trophy history is concerned.
