Imran Tahir hails PSL as a 'top-league'; makes himself available for the entire season

The fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League is expected to be a star-studded affair with a plethora of International stars like Shane Watson, Dale Steyn, Jason Roy, Imran Tahir expected to feature in the marquee event.

Earlier the likes of former Australian all-rounder and Quetta Gladiators star- Shane Watson– had expressed his excitement of playing on Pakistani in front of cricket fans of the terror-ravaged nation and now ace leg-spinner Imran Tahir has come forward and announced that he will be available for the entire season of the PSL

“I am available for the entire season of PSL. Previously due to international commitments, I couldn’t take part in it. I am fully available this time around and hopefully if I get picked I will try to perform as best as I can,” said Tahir in an exclusive chat with Cricket Pakistan.

The Pakistani born leg-spinner, who is one of the most sought after assets in franchise cricket around the world reckoned that the standards of the PSL are top-notch, even billing it as one to the top-leagues in the world, which, according to the leggie is primarily because of the abundance of talent available in Pakistan domestic system.

“I think PSL is a very good league. It is very tough to bowl there because the domestic players are very good. The standard of cricket in the league is very high. The support for the PSL by the people of Pakistan is remarkable. I really enjoyed playing in the league. I think it is one of the top leagues in the world and it is not easy to perform in it,” he said.

It was destiny to play for South Africa: Imran Tahir

Tahir also revealed that he was very much-available to represent South Africa in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in Australia, provided he gets selected.

“I am available for T20’s. I am playing various leagues as well. I would be available for the T20 World Cup in Australia if selected to play for South Africa,” Tahir said.

The Pakistan-born South African International was a consistent performer in the domestic cricket of his native country. However, the lack of opportunities forced him to move to South Africa, something Tahir believes was destiny. However, the champion leg-spinner attributed all of his skills that he learned to the Pakistan domestic system.

“All the cricket skills I learned were in Pakistan for which I am grateful. When I was playing there the standard was really high. Whatever I am today is because of that. I think it was destined for me to play for South Africa. To find a spot in between the big names in Pakistan cricket was really hard at the time,” said Tahir

“But I was still hoping to get an opportunity at the time because I did really well in the 2004 or 2005 seasons. However, once I went away it was difficult for me to come back and play [for Pakistan],” Tahir concluded.
