In cricket, like in life, bad times don't last forever: Mohammad Kaif on Stuart Broad's 500 Test wickets
The fast bowler has played 140 Test matches for England in his 13-year career.
The series against West Indies was a roller coaster ride for Stuart Broad. The England pacer was dropped from the first Test but came back stronger and took 16 wickets in the next two matches to dismantle the Caribbean line up. The heroic performances handed him the player of the series award too. Moreover, the icing on the cake was that the 34-year-old achieved the remarkable feet of 500 Test wickets in the same series.
Broad is regarded as one of the English greats and his recent performance has invited a lot of praise from the cricket fraternity. Broad debuted for England in 2006 but his initial years were not as good as he expected. In the famous match against India in World T20 2007 Yuvraj Singh hit him for 6 sixes in an over which made a lot of noise. However, later the pacer formed a formidable partnership with James Anderson and 13 years later he has 500 Test wickets.
Mohammad Kaif, former Indian batsman also joined the party as he praised the English seamer on social media. He is known for his athleticism on the field and that famous inning which won India the NatWest trophy in 2002. Kaif, who went through a lot of criticism in his own career wrote, “Lesson from Old Trafford: In cricket, like in life, bad times don’t last forever. If you can pick yourself up after getting hit for six 6s, one day you can even get your 500th Test wicket. T20 bowlers have heart, learn from @StuartBroad8.”

The fast bowler has played 140 Test matches for England in his 13-year career. Earlier, Shane Warne also praised the fast bowler upon achieving the rare feat. He mentioned with age on his side he can go on to take 700 Test wickets. Broad is 34 right now and it will be interesting to see how he performs in the last phase of his career.
If the Englishman can keep himself fit for 3-4 more years, he might achieve the record of most wickets by a fast bowler in Test Cricket. His 38-year-old teammate James Anderson who is yet to retire holds the record with 589 Test wickets.
