Afghanistan made their debut in the longest format of the game on Thursday against the World number 1 side India in Bengaluru. It was the much-awaited event in the history of their cricket and they deserved all the accolades coming their way in the lead up to this game. The fitness of a different level is needed in order to cope with the requirements of the five-day cricket and the visiting team was given a dietary plan with three different menus to have during the Test match.

The team endured a decent outing on the first day of their Test cricket by picking six wickets of the hosts. But they also conceded 347 runs in the process and it was only in the final session when the wickets fell which brought the smiles to their faces. But come the second day, they are almost out of the game as the bowlers of the Indian team are proving to be good for them.

What’s on the menu?

Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has been given the three menus and have been told to strictly serve one of them only to the Afghanistan team according to the reports in IB Times. Chicken, Mutton and Fish are part of the menu and one of the three will be served at the lunch time during the Test match.

“All the meat and chicken used in preparation should be Halal. Very little oil should be used in the preparation. Reduce the amount of spices and salts used in meals, especially at lunchtime,” are some of the instructions given to the chef. The team must be enjoying their stay in India as there is a lot of fan following of the likes of Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi in the country which was evident on the first day of the game.

It remains to be seen if they will be able to embrace the stern lessons in the Test cricket going forward in the near future.
