It was a day which ended streaks. For India’s perspective, they lost their first game after 9 consecutive wins. They were eyeing a perfect ten, a feat which has never been accomplished by India in ODIs.  For Australia, they ended their nightmare streak of losing 11 away ODIs by finally winning one against India in Bengaluru.

The 21-run loss to Kohli’s men has dethroned them from the No. 1 ODI ranking as South Africa has climbed past the Men in Blue. They are behind the Proteas by a slender margin and can regain the top spot if they manage to win the last ODI which is to be played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association in Nagpur on Sunday.

Team Matches Points Rating
South Africa 50 5957 119
India 49 5828 119
Australia 51 5879 115
England 53 6029 114
New Zealand 46 5123 111
Pakistan 41 3885 95
Bangladesh 31 2905 94
Sri Lanka 59 5088 86
West Indies 39 3013 77

Warner smashes ton in 100th ODI

The fourth ODI was an inconsequential game as the hosts have already sealed the series by winning the first three games. But the rivalry between both sides didn’t let the intensity to drop one bit at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday. It was David Warner’s century in his 100th ODI for Australia which propelled them to 334 for 5, which is the highest total posted by a team so far in the series. India were in the chase till the 41st over before a rain break seized their momentum.

After the short break, India still looked on course to overhaul the total but the fall of Jadhav and Pandya left MS Dhoni too much to do on his own. When the former captain chopped one back onto the stumps, the game was done and dusted. Australia looked very relieved to finally get an away ODI win under their belt. This win will help them regain confidence and take the momentum into the final ODI and the T20I series which starts next week.

India needs to win the last game and probably all 3 T20I games to be ranked numero uno in all forms of the game, a feat which has never been achieved before.
