India to play two T20Is against West Indies in USA during the Caribbean tour
The schedule for the tour is expected to be announced soon.
The Indian team will be playing a couple of T20I against the West Indies in August in the United States. India is yet to complete their eight-match series against the Windies. The series comprises three ODIs and five T20Is. Six games will be played in the Caribbean land and the final two T20Is will be played in the US.
The series will commence in the last week of July and will end in the first week of August. The two fixtures will be hosted by Cricket West Indies (CWI) at Lauderhill, Florida. The venue has hosted six international games already. India has played four games at the venue, two each in the year 2016 and 2019.
“Playing the last two T20Is in the US makes logistical sense for the Indian team,” a BCCI official in the know of the development told Cricbuzz. The CWI has not confirmed the American schedule so far, but a top official said: “The Indian schedule will be announced soonest.” There are chances of the two games being played on August 6 and 7.
“The Florida plan of the CWI is in line with its long-term partnership with USA Cricket, which is aimed at gearing towards growing the game in the Americas by re-energizing the sport with a new generation of fans in the West Indies and unlocking cricket’s potential in the USA,” the official said.
India will reach West Indies directly from England
India will head to the West Indies directly from England, after the completion of a pending Test match and six white-ball games. The squad for the England tour as well as the Caribbean tour will soon be announced. After the completion of the series against India, West Indies players will head back to their country, from the US, to commence the Caribbean Premier League which is set to begin on August 29.
“There has not been much international cricket in the US of late and if these games are played there, it is good for cricket in the US,” an Indian official with knowledge about the developments said.
