After an all-round performance by the Indian bowlers restricted the Australia to just 242/9, they chased the total down with seven overs to spare and record a 7-wicket win. Rohit Sharma struck a brilliant 125-run knock to lead India to a comfortable win.

3 – Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma pair became the 3rd Indian pair to record three consecutive century partnerships. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma was the first one while Dhawan and Rahane pair was the 2nd to accomplish this feat, all in the last two years.
4 – Number of consecutive fifty-plus scores for Ajinkya Rahane in this series. He is the 3rd player after Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli to score fifty-plus scores in four consecutive ODI innings against Australia.
5 – Number of times Rohit Sharma has scored fifty-plus scores in three consecutive ODI innings. Three of these streaks have come in his last 16 innings.

2008 – Hardik Pandya scored 222 runs and picked up six wickets in this series. He is the first Indian with the double of 200+ runs and 5+ wickets in a bilateral ODI series since Yuvraj Singh in 2008 against England at home.
2013 – The last times before this series, Virat Kohli failed to score a century in a bilateral ODI series where he batted five and more innings was in the home series against England in 2013.
