The India-Australia rivalry has developed over the years as some of the greatest players ever of the game playing for either side. Featuring in some of the crucial games at the big events and being part of some high action, nail-biting encounters raised the heat between the players of the two top cricketing nations.

The two most successful teams in the ODI format have faced off in 123 ODI games so far with the Aussies claiming a clear upper hand. However, the Indian team gave them a tough fight most times they met in the last ten years and won two bilateral series and the prestigious Tri-Series hosted in Australia.

The two teams faced in only eight bilateral series in this format with the most recent in 2016 being the only bilateral series between the two sides hosted by Australia. In the seven series’ played in India, Australia won four while the home team won three series’ including the last two played in 2010 and 2013 respectively.

Sachin Tendulkar and Brett Lee occupy the top spots in the run-scorers and wicket-takers charts of the India-Australia ODI games with 3077 runs and 55 wickets respectively. Sachin nearly has 800 runs more than the next best Ricky Ponting (2167) while Lee is the only bowler with 50 ODI wickets in Indo-Aus clashes. Among the current players, Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni find a place in the run-getters list.
