With India’s Tour of Sri Lanka coming to an end after a rather one-sided contest, a series against the mighty Aussies would be just the right thing to start with for India, in their own den. In order to invoke some enthusiasm, Star Sports, Indias leading sports broadcaster, has rolled out a TVC for the upcoming Paytm India v Australia ODI series.

Star Sports has been extensively promoting the series, which will be the next phase in the contest between the two cricketing powerhouses after their Test series earlier this year. The commercials were aired even before India headed to Sri Lanka, with their first film of the series being a depiction of two formidable opponents- a Kangaroo facing off a Tiger.

The highly anticipated 5-match ODI series which will be followed by 3 T20Is starts on September 17, 2017. As reported by Exchange for Media, the film has been conceptualized by Star Sports in-house creative communications team. The concept of the film revolves around the idea that the Australian cricketers may well consider India as their second-most recognized nation after their own due the frequent tours and annual IPL stints. They are now familiar with the Indian conditions and so, they know the ‘home turf’ as well as the Indian cricket team. The familiarity with Indian conditions, along with the competition and experience amongst the Australian team would mean a spectacular contest between two equally matched opponents.

What’s it?

The film, set to an ‘Aussie sab jaanta hai’ jingle, brings alive the creative idea that the Australian cricket team is at home in India.  The protagonist in the film is an Australian fan in the team jersey exhibiting his knowledge about the Indian cuisine, culture, etc. Throughout the film, the Australian tourist surprises the locals across various walks of life, by displaying his knowledge about India. The film culminates with Indian cricket legend Virender Sehwag’s entry as he says,” The Aussie may know everything, but do they know enough to win on the field?”
