India v Australia World T20 – Combined XI

India and Australia will square off in what will be a quarter-final of sorts at the PCA stadium in Mohali. At the moment, however, it is difficult to pick favorites as both sides are evenly poised to pull off a win. There have been individual elements that have ensured that both these sides have got to where they are in the tournament. Should there be a combination XI of the players from both sides given their form and performance in the World T20 2016, it would certainly be a formidable one. That said, here is the combined XI featuring India and Australia players. Shane Watson: Shane Watson. An elegant batsman and a wily bowler, Watson promises the complete package. If he doesn’t perform with the bat, he will do with the ball. So far, in the context of the 2016 edition of the World T20, Watson has been a revelation with the ball apart from providing solid opening support for his opening partner Usman Khawaja. Not long ago, Khawaja was set to become a replacement for Ricky Ponting in the Test side. The transformation of Usman Khawaja has been one of the swiftest, to say the least. He has now become the samurai, severing the heads of bowlers by dispatching them off to the fence. For many, he has filled the role of Adam Gilchrist for Australia. Virat Kohli: Virat Kohli. With his new approach to playing T20 cricket, Virat Kohli has become perhaps the best batsman in yet another format. Despite not making much of an impact on New Zealand, he carried the Indians home against Pakistan at the Eden Gardens. David Warner: David Waner. (Photo Source: Twitter) The dashing David Warner has finally found himself settled in the cream of the middle-order of the Australian batting powerhouse. Although he had a torrid time in the beginning, Warner has made the no.4 spot in the batting order his own. Given his ability to strike the ball with the ferocity and the viciousness, he too makes a decent case for selection ahead Glenn Maxwell. Steve Smith: Steve Smith. Despite having not made a deep impact as he is used to previously, he played extremely crucial and match-winning innings against Pakistan at Mohali, therefore ensuring that the Australians fought to live another day in the World T20. MS Dhoni: Indian skipper MS Dhoni during the practice session. (Photo Source: Twitter) MS Dhoni is an automatic selection by itself in any starting XI. His calmness, big-hitting prowess and leadership qualities are something people would trade anything for. In addition to his batting, his wicket-keeping skills are nothing short of impeccable. Unlikely stumping chances turn into wickets courtesy of his ability to whip the bails off in a flash. Ravindra Jadeja: Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja’s wily left-arm spinning prowess has made him one of the most feared bowlers in the world. In addition to his bowling, Ravindra Jadeja is a fantastic fielder. His ability to move around the ground at a lightning pace and agility makes him a threat in the field as well. James Faulkner: James Faulkner. Apart from being able to clock fearsome pace, he has an excellent slower delivery, making him a useful death bowler. His 5-27 against Bangladesh at Mohali is evidence of the aforementioned statement. His prowess with the bat is also something of a fairytale. His ability to slam the ball across a fair distance makes him as good a finisher as perhaps MS Dhoni. Ravichandran Ashwin: Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin. (Photo by Ishara S.KODIKARA/AFP/Getty Images) The X-factor of the Indian team, Ravichandran Ashwin is a wily off-spinner. A fair turner of the cricket ball, Ashwin is more revered for his variations and is said to possess a good googly. He plays mind-games with the batsmen, ensuring that most, if not all, fall into the R Ashwin trap. Nathan Coulter-Nile: Nathan Coulter-Nile DD. (Photo Source: BCCI) Coulter-Nile, a name that had been struck off the selectors list, has now become perhaps the leader of the Australian bowling attack. His height enables him to hit the deck hard and extract bounce from even the driest of surfaces. He has also had a good slower ball and is a genuine swinger of the cricket ball. He has a natural in-swinging delivery. Jasprit Bumrah: India’s Jasprit Bumrah. Despite his disturbing bowling action, Bumrah has the ability to bowl inch-perfect yorkers. The selectors took a chance on him and he repaid them with a phenomenal penultimate over against Bangladesh, conceding just 5 runs.
