India vs England: Anushka Sharma and daughter Vamika travel to Ahmedabad to support Virat Kohli
The fans can expect the presence of Anushka and Vamika in the stands cheering for the Indian skipper.
India and England are up against each other in the highly-anticipated pink-ball Test i.e third Test of the four-match series at revamped Motera Cricket Stadium, also known as Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This is a special Test for India in many ways as it will be the first time that they will be playing at the world’s largest cricket stadium that boasts of having a stunning capacity of accommodating 1,32,000 viewers.
Before the commencement of the marquee game between India and England, the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind had performed bhumi pujan and inaugurated the stadium in the presence of other notable personalities including Home Minister Amit Shah, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju. With a capacity of 1,32,000, Narendra Modi Stadium trumps the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia that has a capacity of about 90,000.
For this special event, Indian skipper Virat Kohli wished to have his wife Anushka Sharma and daughter Vamika Kohli alongside him. Thus, it is learned that Anushka along with her new-born travelled to Ahmedabad in a hush-hush manner and took a chartered flight to Motera Stadium. The fans can expect the presence of Anushka and Vamika in the stands cheering for the Indian skipper.
However, it is unlikely for Virat’s daughter to make a public appearance as the couple had repeatedly mentioned that they wish to raise their child away from the public eye and aren’t keen about engaging her on social media. Virat and Anushka had also requested the reporters to refrain from clicking the pictures of their daughter till a certain age.
Axar Patel shines with the ball for India
Losing the toss at Motera, Virat Kohli & Co. were put to bowl first. Thus far, the Indian bowlers have presented a disciplined performance with the ball as England are reeling at a score of 104/8. Axar Patel is the highest wicket-taker for India with four wickets of Jonny Bairstow, Zak Crawley, Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer under his belt. Ishant Sharma has picked one wicket of Dom Sibley while Ashwin also has two to his name.
