India vs England: Fan breaches security to meet Virat Kohli during the third Ahmedabad Test
Play only resumed after the fan went out of the ground.
The opening day’s play of the third Test between India and England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad was a witness to a bizarre incident. During the last session’s play, Virat Kohli, the home team’s captain, was left surprised after a fan tried to hug him. In a clip doing the rounds on social media, the fan was seen running all around the playing arena to reach the 32-year-old.
The fan, somehow, managed to breach the security and go inside the ground. The Delhi-born Kohli was also seen, taking evasive action to avoid any undesirable situation. The veteran was gesturing with his hands with a smile on his face. After getting a glimpse of Virat, the fan went out of the park, running. Play only resumed after he went out of the ground.
Here are the videos of the fan trying to meet Virat Kohli:
Earlier, India lost the toss and were put in to field first. Kohli stated that he wished to bat first, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise, and England were shot out for 112 in 48.4 overs.
“We would have batted first as well. We would look to get into the game early on. The practice wickets have been quite spicy. Something that we have enjoyed as a team. It is such an exciting atmosphere here at the largest cricket stadium.
“I am a bit worried about the lights. We have played in a similar stadium in Dubai. You need to adapt pretty quickly,” Virat was quoted as saying at the toss time before the match. In India’s first innings, Virat managed 27 off 58 with three fours before Jack Leach rattled his woodwork.
Axar Patel wreaked havoc with the ball for Team India as he picked up six wickets in the first innings. In the post-day press conference, Axar told how the pink-ball helped him in getting the wickets.
“I feel there’s a little more glare (shine) on the pink ball, because of which the ball was skidding a little more off the wicket, and I got the lbw decisions because of that. Maybe because of this difference between the red ball and the pink ball, I was getting the ball to skid more off this pitch than the one in Chennai,” Axar said.
