Rishabh Pant finally got a chance in an ODI on Friday in the ongoing second game against England and he made the most of the opportunity. India were in a precarious position after losing a well-set Virat Kohli when Pant joined KL Rahul in the middle. The scoreboard was reading 158 for 3 after 32 overs at that stage.

By the time Pant departed in the 47th over, India had raced away to 308 for 5 with the wicketkeeper-batsman playing an integral role in changing the team’s fortunes. He played a whirlwind knock of 77 runs off just 40 balls. Pant raced away to his fifty off just 28 balls as he laid the foundation for India’s big total.

His quickfire knock was studded with 3 fours and 7 sixes. The ongoing game is Pant’s first ODI since February last year. The batting star found a place in the team only because of Shreyas Iyer’s injury and made the most of the opportunity by scoring his second ODI fifty. Pant would be hoping that his latest knock finally launches his ODI career.

Rishabh Pant’s unbelievable shot

While Rishabh Pant hit 7 sixes in his knock, the one that caught the attention was his incredible one-handed effort of Sam Curran’s bowling. On the third ball of the 46th over, Curran tried to deceive Pant with a slower delivery. The bowler, however, could not pitch the ball at a good spot and it was enough for Pant to send the ball in the stands.

The ball was well outside the off-stump and although it was a slower delivery, Pant backed his skills. He decided to hit the ball for a six and managed to do it even though one of his hands came off the bat.  Pant hit one more six before departing.

Here is the clip of that shot:

Talking about the game, India posted a huge total of 336 for 6 in 50 overs. KL Rahul starred with the bat, scoring 108 while Kohli scored a fifty too. India are leading the three-match series and a win in the ongoing game will see them clinch the series with a match remaining.
