England’s tour of India has gone the wrong way after a great start. After winning the first Test, the visitors have lost three following Tests, three T20Is, and an ODI and won only two tussles in the shortest format. Understandably, frustration has got to the players and more so in the ongoing ODI series as they have been on the receiving end of some pounding from the Indian batsmen.
After starting slowly, India, like they did in the first One-Day International, upped the ante in the death overs to post a mammoth total of 336 runs after 50 overs. While KL Rahul anchored the innings with a century, it was Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya who gave the real impetus to the innings in the last 10 overs.
Even Sam Curran had to face the wrath of the duo as they took him to the cleaners in the 46th over. Hardik Pandya smacked him for two maximums and Pant hit a single-handed six in the over, and if the former had connected his wild slog off the last ball, it could’ve been worse for the left-handed bowler.
And the frustration was visible on Sam Curran’s face as he had a go at the batsman after bowling a dot to end the over. Hardik Pandya soon spotted that the bowler was saying something to him and ran towards him to give it back to him and in the end, the on-field umpires had to intervene to separate the duo. It was certainly in the heat of the moment as both the players always look to give their best for the team.

India plunder 126 runs in last 10 overs
England bowlers were once again under the pump in the death overs. Apart from Sam Curran, his brother Tom, and even Ben Stokes were taken apart for runs. Pant smacked a brilliant 77 off just 40 balls and at one stage, was the favourite to break the record for the fastest century by an Indian in ODIs.
Nevertheless, his knock, comprising three fours and seven massive sixes, gave the much-needed momentum to India and Hardik Pandya carried it forward. He scored 35 off 16 balls with a four and four maximums to propel the hosts.
