Michael Vaughan, the former England skipper, feels that Mumbai Indians (MI) are a better T20 team than India. His comments came after Virat Kohli’s Men in Blue lost to England in the first of the five T20Is at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The match turned out to be a one-sided affair as the Three Lions won by eight wickets with as many as 27 balls to spare.

In the first innings, India were restricted to a mere 124 for seven in their 20 overs. Barring Shreyas Iyer, who scored 67 off 48 balls, no other Indian batter could make much of an impact. Their skipper, Kohli, also got out to Adil Rashid for a five-ball duck.

In the meantime, Vaughan took to Twitter and wrote, “The @mipaltan are a better T20 team than @BCCI !!! #JustSaying #INDvENG.”

Wasim Jaffer, the former Indian cricketer, also had a hilarious reply in store. He replied to Vaughan and wrote, “Not all teams are lucky enough to play four overseas players Michael #INDvENG.”

Here’s Jaffer’s tweet:

It was England’s maiden win in Ahmedabad after they lost back-to-back Tests at the same venue. Jofra Archer became the Player of the Match after he picked up three wickets, conceding only 23 runs in his four overs.

In the run-chase, Jason Roy batted brilliantly as he scored 49 off 32 balls with four fours and three sixes. Eoin Morgan, the English skipper, lauded Archer and Roy for their performances on Friday night.

“That was certainly the intention. Jofra’s strength is that he can bowl really fast among others but certainly Mark Wood’s super strength is that he can bowl super fast. It is hard to do all the time but when he bowls like tonight it is very good entertainment. (Couldn’t ask for more) Particularly in the bowling department,” Morgan said after the match.

“The wicket was as expected. The plans were very basic – to bowl on a length and straight. There is a huge amount of competition within the side and it is a huge boost for anyone scoring runs. When Jason scores runs and does well, in the fashion that he plays it is a good sign,” he added.
