New Zealand came into this World T20 without their recently retired skipper Brendon McCullum but started their campaign well as they have beaten India convincingly by 47 runs in the 13th match of ICC World T20 which was played at Nagpur. New Zealand won the match with their spinners’ heroics as their spinners took 9 wickets in the match and therefore here we have rated New Zealand players according to their performance against India out of 10.

Martin Guptill: 1/10

Martin Guptill has made 252 from 5 matches in 2016 before this match against India and he started well by hitting a brilliant six on the very first ball of Ravichandran Ashwin and given us indications that he is the man in-form but in the very next ball of Ashwin, he tried to sweep the ball and the bounce of the wicket did the damage as New Zealand lost one of their in-form players in the very first over.

Kane Williamson: 5/10

Kane Williamson and Martin Guptill have added 427 runs from 5 matches before this match in 2016 and after the wicket of Martin Guptill, New Zealand were depended on Kane Williamson to hold one end and make the score board moving but in trying to settle himself, he was out in the bowling of Suresh Raina by judging a quick ball from Raina poorly and New Zealand lost precious wicket of Kane very early and he was out for 8 and it was his lowest score of this year. But his captaincy was brilliant and that helped New Zealand to win the match against India.

Colin Munro: 2/10

Colin Munro came into bat very early against India infact in the first over and he is known as a big-hitter and he showed us that by reverse-sweeping Ravi Ashwin for a six in the first over but in the next over against Nehra, he tried to play too many shots and in doing so he lost his wicket and he was out by scoring just 7 runs.

Corey Anderson: 6/10

Corey Anderson came into bat in just the second over of the match and the pitch was slow and against his nature but he batted patiently and against his nature and made small and useful partnerships with Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor but he lost his patience and tried to take on JaspritBumrah and doing so he was cleaned up by Bumrah when he was on 34.

Ross Taylor: 2/10

Ross Taylor is the player who has hit most runs in ICC WT20 among current New Zealand players, He came into bat in the seventh over when New Zealand was struggling and he tried to stay on the wicket and made 10 runs but he was dismissed by Suresh Raina’s presence of mind as he was run-out at the non-strikers end.

Mitchell Santner: 10/10

New Zealand won the match because of this young left arm spinner who took 4 wickets and also made useful 18 runs and proved that he can be New Zealand’s next Daniel Vettori. He picked up crucial wickets of Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina in powerplay overs and helped New Zealand to take control over strong Indian batting lineup. He was awarded Man of the Match for his brilliant spell of bowling.

Grant Elliott: 2/10

Grant Elliott did not score that many runs as but he ensured that New Zealand lower order did not expose against quality Indian bowling line up. In the bowling, he did not pick a wicket but bowled economically and helped New Zealand to maintain the pressure on Indian batting line up as he bowled only 2 overs and given only 9 runs without taking a wicket.

Luke Ronchi: 6/10

Luke Ronchi came into bat when New Zealand desperately needed some big hitting shots and he provided those as he managed to get a six and a four in the last over of Ashish Nehra and remained unbeaten on 21. As a wicket-keeper, he also done two stumping and also took a catch so overall it was a very good game for New Zealand keeper Luke Ronchi.

Nathan McCullum: 7/10

Nathan McCullum did not get a chance to face a ball but he started the innings for New Zealand just like Ashwin and he too managed to pick up a wicket in the very first over as he dismissed Shikhar Dhawan and after that he bowled in very good line and length and in his third over, he took a precious wicket of Yuvraj Singh and in the fielding also, he took a stunner to dismiss Indian captain MS Dhoni.

Adam Milne: 6/10

Adam Milne was chosen by New Zealand team management over Tim Southee and Trent Boult because of his raw pace and he did not disappoint New Zealand team. However, he took only one wicket but he bowled economically and therefore, New Zealand managed to attack Indians throughout their batting.

Ish Sodhi: 9/10

Ish Sodhi is the third spinner for New Zealand and he was selected into the team in a match against India just because of pitch and he bowled very well and picked up three wickets in the match. He took an important wicket of Indian batting star Virat Kohli when he was set and again he dismissed a set batsman Ravi Ashwin when he was set with Dhoni and he ended his figures of 3/18 from his quota of 4 overs.
