India vs Windies: Fourth ODI shifted from Wankhede to Brabourne Stadium

India are currently taking on the Windies in the second Test of the two-match Test series at Hyderabad. The hosts registered a convincing victory in the series opener at Rajkot, beating the visitors by a margin of an innings and 272 runs. The tour will also see the two sides lock horns in a 5-match ODI, closely followed by a 3-match T20I series.

One can assume more contest in the limited overs series as the shorter versions of the game suits the Caribbean style of playing. But well before the beginning of another white-ball season at home, the uneasy collaborations between the central board and the state associations have hogged the unnecessary limelight for all the non-cricketing reasons.

Fourth ODI shifted to Brabourne

Another incident on the similar lines sees the fourth ODI between India and the Windies getting shifted to Brabourne Stadium. The incident erupted after MCA(Mumbai Cricket Association) failed to pay its vendors. The state association requested the BCCI to host the ODI in Wankhede citing lack of a signing authority to clear payments after the term of the Committee of Administrators’ ended on September 15.

But the cricket board refused as the game has been shifted to the historic Brabourne Stadium, owned by Cricket Club of India. It will after a long time that CCI will be seen hosting an international cricket match. The last game at Brabourne saw India take on Australia in a T20I game in 2007.

In the recent past, the ground has often been seen as the second home to the Mumbai state team. It has witnessed some of the most crucial domestic matches taking fold after Wankhede had been given preference for hosting India’s international games.

BCCI released a statement saying, “Under the instructions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India appointed Committee of Administrators, the fourth One-day International match between India and Windies scheduled on 29th October at Wankhede Stadium has been shifted to Cricket Club of India, Mumbai.”
