India vs Windies, T20I Series 2018 - Combined XI

It was a rather tricky end to what seemed like a one-way roadshow in the Indian home season. Team India eked out a last-ball win in the final T20I against Windies to complete a 3-0 whitewash. Prior to the T20Is, the Indian team had thumped the visitors in the other two formats of the game as well. However, when the shortest format beckoned, a lot was expected from Windies as the expectations were that from the World Champions of the format.

In the first game at Kolkata, the very venue where the visitors had lifted the World T20 title in 2016, they were beaten by 5 wickets in a low scoring contest. The second game in Lucknow was all about Rohit Sharma’s record-breaking ton. The final match went down the wire with Fabian Allen almost defending 5 runs in the final over. Eventually, the Indian side prevailed in all three games and won convincingly.

1. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma was the star of the ODI series. Virat Kohli was rested and he was appointed as the captain of the team for the T20I series. The Indian skipper continued his good form with the bat in the T20Is as well. The Lucknow crowd was delighted to see Rohit in action in the second T20I. Rohit hammered an unbeaten 111 off just 61 deliveries in the match with 8 fours and 7 towering maximums. With the captaincy hat on, Rohit looked highly impressive with some brilliant bowling changes and smart field placements.

2. Shikhar Dhawan

Dhawan was under immense pressure to perform when he came in to bat in the final game of the series. He had failed to score well in the ODIs and the pressure was building up in the T20Is. He did score 43 in the second T20I but at a rather sluggish rate. Dhawan silenced all his critics with a match-winning 92 off just 62 balls in the final match to take India home. He looked a class apart, showing exceptional skills in building his innings to perfection in the run chase.
