‘India will score more than 350 runs’ – Aakash Chopra makes his predictions going into Day 2 of Centurion Test
Chopra also backed Kagiso Rabada to pick up two wickets in India's first innings.
Former cricketer Aakash Chopra reckoned that Team India will score in excess of 350 in the first innings of their ongoing Test against South Africa at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. The visiting team ended the first day at 272 for three on the back of KL Rahul’s unbeaten 122-run knock, laced with 16 fours and one six.
Rahul and Mayank Agarwal laid the platform with a 117-run stand for the opening wicket after which the rest of the batters carried on with the good work. Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane were the two overnight batters at the close of play one on day one.
“I feel India will score more than 350 runs. Well done, this is phenomenal,” Chopra was quoted as saying on his YouTube channel.
India going in with four pacers is a brave decision, says Aakash Chopra
Chopra said that despite India taking a brave call of going in with four fast bowlers, the decision may pay dividends as the pacers have the potential to bowl the opposition out twice.
“After that, I feel Shardul and Ashwin will together score more than 40 runs. Yes, Shardul Thakur is playing, which means India has gone in with four fast bowlers. Slightly brave decision but might just work in the end because now you have bowlers who can take 20 wickets,” he stated.
Chopra said that fast bowler Kagiso Rabada, who couldn’t pick up a single wicket on Day one, will pick up two wickets on the second day.
“Kagiso Rabada to pick 2 wickets. The first day was not that good. They didn’t pick up too many wickets but I feel he will win the deal on the second day,” Chopra mentioned. Lungi Ngidi picked up all three wickets to fall on Day one.
Moreover, Chopra quipped that the Indian bowlers would get rid of four Proteas’ batters by the end of the second day’s play.
“Last but not the least, I feel India will dismiss four opposition batters by end of play on the second day. The conditions might become a little favourable for batting but I feel the Indian bowling is much better than the opposition bowling,” he added.
