2. 105 – Sourav Ganguly
v Sri Lanka, Colombo (SSC), 29 Aug 1999

Sourav Ganguly broke Sidhu’s record by reaching 4000 runs in 105 innings. He reached the mark in the Aiwa Cup match against Sri Lanka in 1999. Ganguly scored 85 runs and with Sachin’s 120, took India to 296. India restricted Sri Lanka to 247 chasing 271 due to rain and won the match by 23 runs.
Ganguly was dubbed as the God of off-side due to his mesmerising and wonderful stroke play on the off side and his penchant for big sixes off spinners.
