10. Shikhar Dhawan – ₹5 Crores
Shikhar Dhawan is another player who has struggled a great deal with his form. The left-hander has been highly inconsistent and failed to provide the team with good starts as he did earlier. As a consequence, Dhawan was also sacked from the Test team.
Therefore, even his contract was downgraded from the top category to ‘Grade A’. However, Dhawan will try to give his everything for the team and could forge back into the ‘Grade A+’ next year. The opener is an important part of the plans for the upcoming World Cup.
11. Ishant Sharma – ₹5 Crores
Indian pacer Ishant Sharma is coming off age with his bowling. Even though he is quite talented and has been around for quite a few years, Ishant always struggled to maintain consistency. Yet, because he was one of the best options available at that point in time, the management was forced to persist with him.
This faith that was put in him back then is now reaping rewards. Ishant has been performing quite consistently in the Test arena. Thus, his contract was upgraded from ‘Grade B’ last year. The Delhi cricketer will now earn ₹5 crores per annum.
12. Mohammed Shami – ₹5 Crores
Mohammed Shami, in the last few months, has rediscovered his talent and is performing beautifully. He shed a lot of weight to improve his performances and the hard work that he put behind the scenes is now paying rewards. Even though he has been a regular feature in the Test squad, Shami was ignored for the limited-overs squad more often than not.
But, with this recent performances, the fast bowler has surely sealed his spot in the World Cup squad. He is picking up regular wickets and is also restricting the run flow. Shami is currently playing in two formats of the game and therefore his contract was enhanced this year.
