Indian shooter questions Sachin Tendulkar’s Bharat Ratna
Indian shooter Joydeep had a strange reason to question Tendulkar's award.
Sachin Tendulkar among the many laurels he has won for his amazing contribution to cricket was also the first sportsperson from the country to be conferred with the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award in 2014. While there have been those who have questioned it time to time believing Hockey legend Major Dhyanchand deserved to be the first sportsperson to be awarded the honour. But today another Indian sportsman questioned Sachin’s Bharat Ratna for his English.
The Amarnath Yatra is an important pilgrimage of the Hindu’s; every year around this time lakhs of devotees arrive in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and make their way through a challenging terrain to reach the Amarnath Shrine in the mountains of Kashmir to bow to the ice Shiva Linga that appears there naturally. Yesterday a bus full of pilgrims was attacked by terrorists in the valley and all of a sudden the country was shaken.
Sachin deeply disturbed
As per reports 6 people who were from Gujarat were killed in the attack which also cost a few lives of the security personnel in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. Among those paying condolences to the families of people who lost their lives was the Indian cricketing legend Sachin.
He chose Twitter as the medium to send across his message and he wrote- “Deeply disturbed by the terror attack on #AmarnathYatra pilgrims. Thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims and their families.”
Among the first few who replied was Indian shooter and Olympian Joydeep Karmakar. But missing the point of the message Joydeep chose to attack Sachin for his grammar and that affected him so much so that he even sarcastically questioned how he deserved the Bharat Ratna.
Joydeep tweeted- “What a grammatically correct statement..no wonder you deserved the Bharat Ratna”
Sachin fans were seriously offended and Joydeep faced abuse with a lot of them calling him an Angrez and other names.
