Indian team to get sufficient time in future to settle down in the overseas conditions

The Indian team under the commanding leadership of Virat Kohli stunned the hosts Proteas team in their own den with a spectacular and stunning show in the limited overs series. While in an important aspect, the visitors once again fallowed their chances of winning a Test series in the African contingent.

The South African team got the better of their opposition in the first two Test matches on the back of some match-winning performances combined with the home team’s all-round efforts. Due to some unknown reasons, the Indian Test team members could not get an appropriate amount of time to acclimatize themselves to the overseas conditions, which proved out to be a major setback for the visitors as termed by skipper Virat and head coach Ravi Shastri.

India will be playing the shorter formats first in future overseas tours

India have a number of overseas tours lined up in the coming months, which includes the major trips to England, Australia and New Zealand. As witnessed by the world in the first two Test matches against South Africa, the Indian players especially batsman never really looked comfortable to the seaming and swinging conditions in the Rainbow nation.

But as time passed by, the Indian batters looked quite settled and known to the overseas surroundings, which then led to a drastic change in the Indian team’s performance with which they defeated the hosts 5-1 in the ODI series and then 2-1 in the T20I series.

After a lengthy discussion with the team management over the scheduling issue of the Indian team, the BCCI CEO Rahul Johri has stated that the team would be getting sufficient amount of time in the future overseas tours for the players to accommodate themselves nicely in the alien conditions. He revealed that India would now be firstly playing the limited overs cricket in future tours to England and Australia to settle down their feet in the important period before the Test series.

“Based on the feedback from the team management we had some discussions. What we are not doing is that in the summer India is going to England and before the first Test, the team would get acclimatized to the conditions. India will play the shorter format before Tests,” said Johri as quoted by the Mid-day.
