‘Indian team to Ravi Ashwin right now’ – Wasim Jaffer shares hilarious meme as ICC announces playing conditions for WTC final
ICC also confirmed that both India and New Zealand will be joint winners if the summit clash results in a tie or draw.
On Friday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the playing conditions for the ICC World Test Championship final featuring India and New Zealand at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton next month. With rain expected to play a part in the game, the apex cricket body has allocated a reserve day to make up for the lost time during the regular days. ICC also confirmed that both teams will be joint winners if the summit clash results in a tie or draw.
Many members of the cricket fraternity reacted to the new rules and presented their opinion. Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer also did the same but in his own style. He shared a hilarious meme from Sanjay Dutt’s movie Munna Bhai M.B.B.S, highlighting spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is the most intelligent person in the Indian team.
“Tu samajhke apun ko sikha dena (First you understand and then teach me),” says Sanjay Dutt in the meme. As per Jaffer, the whole Indian team would have said the same to Ashwin after ICC introduced the new rules. Notably, Ashwin is regarded as one of the smartest cricketers going around, and his witty posts on social media backs the claim. Hence, Jaffer’s post didn’t take long to get viral.
Team India gearing up for the WTC final
Meanwhile, Ashwin and the rest of Team India players are currently serving quarantine in Mumbai. They’ll fly to England on June 2 and will further undergo a 10-day isolation period. With the WTC final getting underway on June 18, they won’t have much time to get in the groove.
On the contrary, New Zealand will meet hosts England in a two-match Test series ahead of the crucial game. Hence, they have a great chance to adapt the English conditions and identify their best combination. Moreover, the Kiwis registered a 2-0 triumph when they met India last year in the home Test series.
Nevertheless, Virat Kohli’s men will take the field as the top-ranked Test team and would back themselves to emerge victorious. They have thrashed giants like Australia and England earlier this year. Hence, the Kiwis must unleash their A-game to challenge India.
