India’s most successful test captain Virat Kohli is the team’s most experienced Test batsman. He would be looking to win the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia for the 2nd consecutive time. However, it is not going to be easy this time around for Kohli and his men, with Steve Smith and David Warner back. Kohli has amassed 7240 runs in 86 Tests at a mind-boggling average of 53.63.

Kohli is among India’s most successful batsmen ever in Australia across all formats. He averages 55.39 in 12 Test Matches, with 6 centuries to his name. He made his maiden hundred in Adelaide- a gritty 116 against all odds. Some of his other memorable performances include the twin hundreds in Adelaide 2014 in a losing cause, 169 in MCG 2014, and most recently 123 in Perth 2019.

Virat is currently 2nd on the ICC Test Rankings for batsmen, only behind his Aussie counterpart Steve Smith. He has 627 runs in 13 Tests at an average of 52.25 in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship, with a career-best 254* against South Africa. However, he failed to perform in the New Zealand tour- scoring just 38 runs in 4 innings as India lost the series 2-0.
