IPL 10: Heavy traffic restrictions in Bengaluru ahead of RCB v RPS clash
To help better and smooth flow of public transportation, additional BMTC buses will be running on the day.
The Bengaluru traffic police department has put forth a series of restrictions to be imposed on April 16 in the city. These restrictions would be pertaining to the traffic issues. The idea behind setting up of the restrictions is to ensure that the 17th match of IPL 10 goes smoothly in the city. Royal Challengers Bangalore will be hosting the Rising Pune Supergiant in the key encounter.
The city of Bengaluru is often admitted to being the favourite of most of the overseas and domestic players playing in the tournament. The city has a charm associated with it. However, something that often ends up bothering the people is heavy traffic. On the match days, the situations only end up getting worse. The location of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium is in the heart of the city of Bengaluru.
Hence, when the match commences or the time when it ends, the crowds flock around the stadium and the traffic menace is there to trouble all. For travelling a 100-meter distance from the ground, close to 45 minutes needs to be shelled out by the vehicle owners. Keeping all these worrying factors in mind, the Bengaluru city traffic police department has decided to block certain routes on the match day on Sunday.
As per the reports in Deccan Herald, the stretches of roads banned on the day are:
Both sides between CTO Circle and Queen’s Circle on Queen’s Road; between Anil Kumble Circle and Queen’s Circle on MG Road; between MG Road and Cubbon Road on Link Road; Raj Bhavan Road, T Chowdaiah Road and Race Course Road, near stadium compound, Central Street; between BRV Circle and Dickenson Road on Cubbon Road; between Kamaraj Road Junction and Dickenson Road on Cubbon Road, between SBI Circle and Asirvatham Circle on St Mark’s Road; between MG Road and St Mark’s Road on Museum Road; between Queen’s Road and Hudson Road on Kasturba Road and between Siddalingaiah Road and RRMR Road on Vittal Mallya Road, Kings Road, in front of Press Club, Bal Bhavan Fountain inside Cubbon Park; between Grant Road Junction and Queen’s Road on Lavelle Road; between Siddalingaiah Circle and Bishop Cotton Girls’ School on Vittal Mallya Road (the norm excludes BMTC buses).
As far as parking in concerned, special parking lots have been assigned. The grounds of St Joseph’s Indian High School and the first floor of the Shivajinagar bus stand have been marked as the parking spaces. For the VVIP passes holders, there will be a pay and park provision at the UB City. Members of the KSCA will have parking spaces in the St. Mark’s Cathedral and Bowring Institue. The security personnel can park their vehicles at the KGID building.
To help better and smooth flow of public transportation, additional BMTC buses will be running on the day. The buses will run from 5 pm from different locations towards the ground. After the match, these special buses will run at 12 am. The entry gates to the Cubbon Park will be open 3 hours prior to the commencement of the match and 3 hours after the match.
