Chennai Super Kings have been one of the most consistent teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Under the leadership of the enigmatic Mahendra Singh Dhoni, they have made the tournament their own and have rolled over oppositions with disdain. However, following the team management’s involvement in betting and other unwanted scandals, their dream run was halted and they were consequently handed a two-year termination along with the Rajasthan Royals. After serving the ban CSK will be itching to turn their fortunes around and make a strong comeback. They’ve retained the core of the team from the very first season and is one of those teams that has the widest loyal follower base as the players enjoy unbelievable status from the fans in Chennai. The tweaker is currently struggling to cement a spot in the limited-overs format for India. However, that doesn’t debase the stupendous performances he has dished out for his respective teams. Ashwin has been drafted in by the Super Kings in 2009 for $ 850000 and ever since became an integral element of their bowling setup. He played for the Rising Pune Supergiant in the 2016 and 2017. He plies his trade in T20 leagues for different franchises across the globe. The Trinidad & Tobago-born cricketer has also been a major contributor in the Indian Premier League. He has played for the Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and also for the Gujarat Lions. The Super Kings grabbed him for $200000 in 2011 and the decision paid dividends for them. After Chennai’s suspension, he went to the Gujarat Lions but played a handful of games for them. Meanwhile, the Jharkhand-born cricketer attracted the highest bid in the inaugural season. Dhoni led India to their second 50-overs World Cup title in 2011 and in the same year won the Indian Premier League for the CSK. The team also raced to a couple of Champion League T20 titles on the back of Dhoni’s stupendous captaincy skills. In 2016 and 2017, he represented the Rising Pune Supergiants and churned out some match-winning knocks for them. Going into the next season Chennai will be looking to have another fruitful season with MSD at the helm.
