Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has the ability to run through a bowling lineup and his prowess with the leather was one of the major reasons why Australia managed to win the 2015 World Cup in Down Under. However, he has suffered from a number of injuries over the years owing to which the New South Wales-born bowler has strained to feature on a consistent basis in the national team.

His stupendous spells of bowling also fetched him a contract in the Indian Premier League (IPL) when he was picked up Royal Challengers Bangalore, captained by Virat Kohli. He played a couple of seasons, picked up 34 wickets from 27 matches, but thereafter didn’t take part. Nevertheless, he was drafted in by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) last season at a whopping price of INR 9.4 crores.

Starc makes the revelations

Nevertheless, just before the start of the event’s 10th edition, he suffered from a tibial bone stress fracture owing to which he couldn’t play the tournament. The 28-year-old developed the injury during Australia’s Test series against South Africa. Recently, it has been learned that he has been released by the Knight Riders and the same was communicated to him via an SMS.

“I got a text message two days ago from the owners of Kolkata saying I’ve been released from my contract. At the moment I’ll be home in April. I obviously didn’t go last year with my tibia injury and it was a great opportunity to freshen the body up, let everything heal by itself,” Starc was quoted as saying in www.cricket.com.au.

Starc recently made his comeback in the two-match Test series against Pakistan and yet another time, he developed a hamstring niggle following which he was rested for the three-match T20I series. Nonetheless, he went on to play the three-match ODI series against Faf du Plessis-captained South Africa and finished with four wickets.
