IPL 2018 Auction: Base price for players announced

After 10 successful years, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to enter a new decade in 2018. The upcoming edition promises to be bigger than ever, and will also see the return of two former franchises in the fray. Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings who were serving a two-year ban will be making their return in the new decade of IPL.
Only recently the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that there would be as many as 1122 players taking part in the IPL auction. With the auction is slated to be held later in the month, the board has revealed the base price of the players. 36 players (13 Indian and 23 overseas) have been listed at a base price at INR 2 crore, which is the maximum base price limit, ahead of the auction that is scheduled to take place in Bangalore.
The list includes the likes of Ravi Ashwin, KL Rahul, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh, Ajinkya Rahane, Rashid Khan, Chris Lynn, Quinton de Kock, Brendon McCullum, Dwayne Bravo, Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard etc. England all-rounder Ben Stokes, who was one of the most sought-after players in the 2017 IPL auction has also listed his base price at INR 2 crores.
The next bracket of INR 1.5 crore consists of some surprising names. Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar, who made his international debut recently, also belongs to this category while pacer Mohammed Siraj and batsman Manish Pandey have set their base price at INR 1 crore.
The likes of Rahul Tripathi and Basil Thampi, who had a great 2017 IPL, have set their base price at INR 20 lakhs, which is the minimum base price, and INR 30 lakhs respectively. Krunal Pandya, who is expected to fetch a lot of money in the auction, has set his base price at INR 40 lakhs.
