IPL 2018: Bhuvneshwar Kumar's wife tells all about how the bowler is a changed man
The 28-year old Indian pacer is perhaps the most important member of the Indian bowling attack at the moment.
Nupur Nagar, the wife of Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, showed up in a light-hearted chat with The Quint and spilled some beans about her husband. The couple has known each other for a long time and finally tied the knot in 2017. Bhuvneshwar was recently made the vice-captain for Sunrisers Hyderabad for IPL 2018. He got promoted to the position of a deputy as the previously designated VC Kane Williamson had to take up the responsibility of captaincy.
In the interview, Bhuvi talked about how he got a text message from their coach telling him that he has been chosen for vice-captaincy. He also spoke about the prospects of SRH this IPL, and how much the ban on their original captain and key player David Warner will cost them in the crease and on the field.
“We are going to miss him on the team. He is a player who can win a match single-handedly. He is also one of the best fielders in the world,” he said.”You will find many players, but you cannot replace a player like Warner.”
Nupur Nagar – An understanding wife
Later in the interview, his wife Nupur made some interesting revelations about their journey together. When asked how difficult it is to be married to a cricketer, she said it is not really a cakewalk, but the facts that they were long-time friends before getting together, helps in maintaining the equation.
“Somewhere very difficult, because he is traveling all the time, but easy because we were friends and it is easier to manage post-marriage.”
Bhuvneshwar and Nupur have known each other since he was 13 and she was 11, so one can say they have lived the fairytale-ish story of childhood sweethearts-turned-couple. Nupur also said that Bhuvneshwar has changed quite a lot from the person he was earlier. “He was more decent and innocent and now he has become smarter,” she said with a laugh. Bhuvneshwar also chipped in, saying, “It’s called maturity.”
When asked if her husband is equally soft-spoken and polite in real life as we see him on camera, Nupur completely disagreed. “No, that’s the public appearance,” she said with a smile. The interview reflected the sweet camaraderie and friendship between one of the newest couples of the Indian cricket team.
