Kolkata Knight Riders have been on the tenterhooks ever since their star player Chris Lynn has been injured. He sustained a serious shoulder injury while playing in a T20 International against New Zealand last month when he dived to stop the ball only to land awkwardly on his troublesome shoulder. The Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to commence on April 7 but KKR will play their opening game on the next day against Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, Lynn has now cleared that he will get fit in time for the opening encounter of his team.

KKR bought the swashbuckling Australian batsman for a whopping amount of Rs 9.6 Crore during the auction earlier this year. The decision was surprising from the franchise as they shelled out a huge amount for him despite being aware of the history of his injuries. Lynn is very much prone to injuries and it is highly likely that he might be ruled out of the tournament in case he sustains yet another injury while playing.

Lynn himself gives an update

Chris Lynn, while speaking to cricket.com.au, cleared that he is recovering well and his shoulder is responding nicely to all the treatments. “It’s tracking really nicely. It’s a short turnaround with the timeframe that we’ve got but it’s all going well,” he said. Lynn also added that it is not the end of the world for him if unfortunately, he fails to recover in time for the tournament.

“The docs and the physios are happy so that’s all I can do. Fingers crossed I can keep going in the right direction and try to make myself available for the first game of the IPL. If not, it’s not the end of the world but I’m doing everything I can to get back out there,” he added. The 27-year-old will try to bat against the bowling of Billy Stanlake and Ben Cutting which will be much like a fitness test for him.

“I’ve had a bat during the week just on throwdowns, so I’ll ramp it up next week against ‘Cuttsy’ and Billy Stanlake. If I can get through those two blokes, I’ll know I’m going okay,” he concluded.
