IPL 2018: Daniel Vettori gives his verdict on the nature of Bengaluru track
Daniel Vettori further cited that primary reasons for the poor show of RCB in the IPL 2017.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is often seen as a tournament that is dominated by the batsmen. Some of the venues, in particular, have bagged the tags of being the run fest tracks. One such venue is the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The venue, that plays the host to the Royal Challengers Bangalore, has been behaving very odd in the recent times. And now, the head coach of RCB, Daniel Vettori has given his opinions on the track.
The RCB camp has started off their preparations for IPL 2018. Last season, they had a very tough time in the tournament. Their fortress had turned from being a run fest track to a sluggish wicket. Their stroke makers, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, found it tough to get their act together. Many believed that the track needed some revamp. Now, analysing the track ahead of the season, Daniel Vettori opined that the wicket will fare up better this year.
“The pitch seems to have improved this season. The guys trained on one of the main wickets yesterday and they were really happy with it. Touch-wood, it will be like the Chinnaswamy of old,” Daniel Vettori quoted as per the reports on the official website of Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Problems of 2017
Daniel Vettori further cited that primary reasons for the poor show of RCB in the IPL 2017. He remarked that the team suffered major setbacks with injuries to their key players. Also, the players found it very tough to adjust to the sluggish tracks. They had least expected the Bengaluru track to play slow and low. And hence, it was difficult for them to cope up with a changed track.
“We had a lot of injuries and we had a wicket that we didn’t adapt to, the wicket was very different to what we were used to and what we had built the squad around,” Vettori quoted.
