IPL 2018: Five big hitters who will destroy the bowling

Indian Premier League (IPL) is a quintessential heaven for batsmen. The grounds are smaller, the wickets are flat but not many succeed. There are a few batters in this world who have the ability to strike every other ball out of the park. The Indian Premier League promises exciting cricket, it promises huge sixes and faster fifties and hundreds. The big hitters in world cricket are increasing in number. However, the IPL has the best of them. The destroyers are scattered over the eight teams. Each one of them is better than the other. It will be interesting to see who lives up to their reputation in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. Many of these players do indeed have a reputation of striking the ball a long way in the grand scheme of things worldwide. We have handpicked the five most lethal batters who will light up this year’s Indian Premier League. Have a look. 1. Chris Lynn (KKR) Chris Lynn. Lynn has always been injury prone, last year he was at his scintillating best. He was scoring fifties for fun until he got injured. However, he has played eleven games in the cash-rich tournament and has impressed everyone. KKR used their right to match card to get Chris Lynn for a whopping INR 9.6 crores. Lynn has scored 378 runs in his 11 games at an average of 43. His strike rate is awe-inspiring. His 378 runs have come at a rate of 161 runs per hundred balls. The average is also on the right side of the forty. This man is poised to be the entertainer in this year’s IPL. 2. Colin Munro (KKR) Colin Munro of New Zealand bats. He had a great series against Pakistan recently and that helped him get the big bucks in the IPL. He was picked up by the team from Bengal. After losing Gambhir and Uthappa, the opening slot was there to be filled and they have a worthy replacement in the Munro. Munro will play his first ever IPL this year. His inexperience in the Indian conditions can be overlooked as his T20 statistics speak a lot about him. He has played over 150 T20 games in all and has a strike rate that touches 150. He has scored four centuries in his career and has been in good form. Munro’s is going to be paired up with Chris Lynn up top for KKR; a nightmare for the bowlers, literally. 3. David Warner (SRH) David Warner of SRH. (Photo Source: Twitter) As long as David Warner is playing cricket, he will always be on this list. A big hitter of the highest caliber and a leader. Warner was retained by the Sunrisers Hyderabad. It was the right choice as the Aussie vice-captain led them to their maiden IPL championship a couple of years back. He has always performed in the IPL. Warner is one of the leading run scorers in the league. He has played 114 games for various franchises over the years. Warner strikes at a 142 and averages just above 40 in the Indian Premier League. He has scored 4014 runs in the IPL so far and has three centuries and as many as 36 fifties to his name. Warner has also hit 160 sixes in the IPL with fifteen Man of the Match awards. 4. Hardik Pandya (MI) Hardik Pandya – I love all formats. I want to do well in each and every format. (Photo Source: Twitter) Hardik Pandya is the youngest of the lot. His fearless nature and the natural ability to strike the ball earns him a place in this list. Pandya has shown that he can hit the ball a long way. He made his debut in the IPL a few seasons back and he has been omnipresent ever since. Hardik has played the role of pinch hitter for his national team. He has played 37 games for Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Scoring 406 runs at an average of 21, this man smashes the ball at a strike rate of 142. He has hit more sixes than fours in the IPL in his short career; 24 fours and 28 sixes to be precise. A superstar in the making, Pandya will be the one to watch this season. 5. AB de Villiers (RCB) AB de Villiers of Royal Challengers Bangalore, 2017. (Photo Source: Twitter) This list is incomplete without AB de Villiers. Royal Challengers Bangalore have had a plethora of big hitters over the years but none were as good as this man. This South African continues to rule the cricketing world with his talent. A true sportsman, ABD has entertained us all over the years. He has played some outstanding innings in the IPL and this year will be no different. The Protea has played 118 innings in the IPL. He strikes at 148 and averages 38. He has scored over 3400 runs in his IPL career. The 33-year-old has got three centuries and twenty-two half-centuries to his name. De Villiers has fifteen Man of the Match awards to his name. With that, he has also hit 157 sixes in his entire IPL career.
