IPL 2018: Gautam Gambhir lands in Kolkata, KKR CEO welcomes him with a tweet
His long term association with the KKR franchise came to an end at the auctions this year.
The stage is all set at the iconic Eden Gardens, Kolkata, for the marquee clash between the Delhi Daredevils and the Kolkata Knight Riders. It will be a very different feeling for the home fans as they will see their former skipper, Gautam Gambhir, leading the opposition team in the match. Also, at the very same time, things will get a little nostalgic for Gambhir as well.
Gautam Gambhir has some very fond memories of the venue in Kolkata. Under his leadership, the Kolkata Knight Riders flourished big time. He led the team to two IPL titles and is still revered as the greatest leader the team has ever had. His long term association with the franchise came to an end at the auctions this year. The KKR camp parted ways with Gambhir.
Also, Gambhir expressed his desire to play for the Delhi Daredevils. He was subsequently roped in by the double Ds and was also appointed as their new captain. Now, he is set to take on the Knight Riders in an important clash in the season. He recently arrived in Kolkata and had a nostalgic message to share on the social media. He called the city his ‘home’ as well.
Here is what Gautam Gambhir tweeted:
“The air smells familiar, faces look friendly, from ‘Gauti paaji’ all of a sudden I’ve become ‘Gautam Da’…..am I at my erstwhile home? @DelhiDaredevils @ipl @bcci #DilDilli #Dhadkega,” Gautam Gambhir wrote in his tweet.
Soon after Gambhir posted the tweet, the Kolkata Knight Riders CEO, Venky Mysore, replied to his words. Venky Mysore welcomed the former KKR skipper to the city and noted that he can always call the city his home. He also added that he is looking forward to a good game on the day.
Here is what the KKR CEO had to say:
“Welcome Gauti! Great to have you back in Kolkata! Pl always consider this as your home. Look forward to a fine game today. @GautamGambhir @KKRiders #KKRvDD #KKRHaiTaiyaar,” Venky Mysore welcomed Gambhir.
