IPL 2018: Ishan Kishan suffers a nasty injury; leaves the field with swollen eye
Aditya Tare took the keeping duties.
Defending Champions Mumbai Indians were hit by a massive blow when their wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan left the field after coping a fiery blow on his face during the second innings against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede. The incident took place in the 14th over of the RCB chase when Virat Kohli played a pull shot off Jasprit Bumrah. The ball was fielded by Hardik Pandya, whose throw was hit on Ishan Kishan’s face due to an awkward bounce. The match was halted for a few minutes.
The wicket-keeper was taken off the field due to the excessive swelling near the bottom of his right eye. In came the substitute wicket-keeper Aditya Tare. This was the first time a substitute gloveman took the field in the IPL history. Tare even effected a stumping off Mayank Markande to dismiss Sarfaraz Khan.

After the match, the MI skipper Rohit Sharma felt confident about the gloveman’s participation for their next game. With four days left for MI’s next game, we might expect Kishan to be back on the field with a bang.
“It was very unfortunate,” Rohit said as quoted by Cricbuzz. “I haven’t checked on him because after the presentation got over I came here (for the press conference). But he seems to be alright. He has some swelling under his eyes which, I guess, should be okay by tomorrow or day after, We’ve got a few days before we play the next match – I think 22nd is when we’re playing. So we have three-four days in between where we can assess and hopefully he’ll be fine,” Rohit further added.
Rohit-led Mumbai Indians next play against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on 22nd April, Sunday. Ishan Kishan, the man in form will most likely be available for the next fixture.
