IPL 2018, Match 12: Kings XI Punjab vs Chennai Super Kings – 10 best memes/gifs
The Kings XI clinched a humdinger at Mohali against the Super Kings.
The Match 12 of IPL 11 last night was all about the two big boys on the show, the mighty Chris Gayle, and the mighty Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Both of them have faded away a little bit with their abilities in the recent times and might not have the same consistency in terms of striking the ball that they once had, but they definitely proved in Mohali that they still have it in them to make a difference.
Gayle who was surprisingly picked by the Kings XI Punjab captain Ravichandran Ashwin came out all guns blazing and absolutely smacked the Chennai bowlers everywhere on a pitch as flat as a road. Chennai missed some genuine pace in their attack as none of their bowlers could hurry Gayle into his shots.
There was not much turn available for the spinners either and it was all too easy for the Universe boss who was in his zone. The long levers were well and truly at their work as anything, which was pitched up, was off into the orbit. At one point, CSK would have anticipated having to chase down a score in excess of 230, but their bowlers pulled it back a touch at the end to restrict Punjab to 197 and keep the visitors in the game.
And then it was MS Dhoni’s turn in the second innings. The former Indian captain who has been regularly coping serious criticism for his game in the T20s gave a strong answer to all his detractors as he almost pulled it off for CSK with some outstanding power hitting.
Dhoni was struggling with severe back pain in the latter parts of his innings and that hindered his stroke-play, but he was still good enough to send the ball 20 rows back. The 36-year old however couldn’t get CSK over the line, leading to the men in yellow’s first loss in the tourney.
While twitter trolled Dhoni haters with some funny memes, CSK fans also came for some trolling for their team’s overall performance in the game.
