IPL 2018: Match 28, Rajasthan Royals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad – Statistical Highlights

Sunrisers Hyderabad moved on to the top of the table with their 6th win of the tournament and their third in a row while defending a total. Their skipper Kane Williamson starred with a 63-run knock batting along with the debutant Alex Hales. However, some quality death bowling from the home side ensured SRH ended up with only 151/7 on the board. The RR skipper Ajinkya Rahane guided his team with an unbeaten fifty in the run-chase but couldn’t score at the required rate. The equation came down to 21 runs from the last over where they managed to score only nine runs.

1 – Sunrisers Hyderabad now leads the head to head record against Rajasthan Royals in the IPL by 5-4. This was their first win against them in Jaipur having lost the only game they played at this venue way back in 2013.
1 – SRH became the first team to defeat Royals in Jaipur after electing to bat first. Rajasthan won on three occasions after electing to bat first at this venue.
2 – This is the 2nd time Ajinkya Rahane scored an unbeaten fifty during an unsuccessful run-chase in the IPL. He scored 84* exactly six years ago for RR against Daredevils. Rahane became the first opener to score two unbeaten fifties during unsuccessful chases in the IPL. He is overall the 3rd player after David Miller and MS Dhoni to score more than one fifty during unsuccessful IPL chases.
4 – This match was the 4th occasion of Rahane batting in the 20th over of a run-chase in the IPL. He scored the winning runs on two occasions and ended up on the losing side in the other two matches.
11 – This is Rajasthan Royals‘ first defeat while chasing in 11 Twenty20 matches in Jaipur. Their last defeat while chasing at this venue came against RCB in the 2012 edition. Royals won eight consecutive IPL games while chasing after that defeat at this venue.
42 – Balls Rahane needed to complete his fifty in this match. This was Rahane’s 27th fifty-plus score in the IPL with ten of them required 42 and more deliveries.
1053 – Ajinkya Rahane became the first player to score 1000 runs in the Twenty20 format at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. He scored 1053 runs at this venue in 29 innings at an average of 45.78.
