Kolkata Knight Riders witnessed the arrival of Shubman Gill in the IPL as the youngster blasted a 36-ball 57 to take his team over the line in the home fixture against CSK. Gill utilized his first opportunity of batting in the top four with an unbeaten 83-run stand with his captain Dinesh Karthik for the 5th wicket. Earlier, MS Dhoni once again gave the finishing touches to the Chennai Super Kings as they finished with 177/5. The visitors were set towards a total in access of 200 before KKR spinners pulled things back with economical overs in the middle overs.

1 – Piyush Chawla became the first player to bag 50 wickets in the IPL for two different teams. He took 84 wickets while playing for the Kings XI Punjab and completed 50 wickets for the Knight Riders with the wicket of Ravindra Jadeja. Interestingly, Chawla’s 50th wicket for KXIP was also Jadeja.
18y 237d – At the age of 18 years and 237 days, Shubman Gill became the 4th youngest player to score a fifty in the IPL. He is the 5th player to score an IPL fifty before turning 19 but the first to do so while batting at No.4 or lower. Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan scored fifties while opening the innings before turning 19 while Sanju Samson scored his maiden IPL fifty batting at No.3.
This was also the first time Gill batted in the top five this season. He batted once at No.6 and four times at No.7 before this match.
50 – Number of wickets Piyush Chawla has taken while playing for the Knight Riders in the IPL. He became the 2nd player after Sunil Narine (105) to take 50 wickets for KKR in the IPL.
57 – MS Dhoni has faced 57 balls from Sunil Narine in the IPL without scoring a boundary. No other player has faced 50 and more balls from a bowler and not hit a boundary in the IPL. Dhoni has scored 29 off the 57 balls he faced from Narine without being dismissed.
150 – Number of sixes Dhoni has hit in the IPL while representing the Super Kings. He is the second player after Suresh Raina (157) to hit 150+ sixes for CSK in the IPL.
250 – Dinesh Karthik‘s batting strike rate during his unbeaten 45-run innings that came off 18 balls. This is the highest batting strike rate in an IPL inning for a KKR captain. Gautam Gambhir was the only other KKR skipper to maintain a strike rate of over 200 in an IPL inning as he scored 32 off 16 balls against Delhi Daredevils in 2012.
