IPL 2018: Mitchell McClenaghan urges fans to support through thick and thin
Mitch was spot on with his tweet.
The game of cricket is a great leveler. In the IPL 2018 season opener between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, the MI pacer Mitchell McClenaghan conceded 44 runs in his quota of four overs and was criticised by many cricket followers for conceding the victory to CSK. Ten days after that game, MI took on RCB at the same venue and he was the star bowler for the MI side with the figures of 2/24 in 4 overs.
Mitchell McClenaghan took the wickets of dangerous Quinton de Kock and AB de Villiers, which turned the game in Mumbai’s favour. After facing severe criticism in the season opener, Mitch came up with a match-winning performance. He came up with a brilliant tweet for his fans after the victory against RCB last night.
His tweet read, “Great win tonight from the lads! Well done to @ImRo45 outstanding knock with the #flash Evin Lewis! Nice to get the win MI has great fans and love the passion when we win or lose – remember true fans support their side through thick or thin. #beatruefan – T20 is a brutal game!”
He congratulated his teammates on the victory and felt great on registering the first win of the season. He urged the fans to support the team in good as well as bad times, he concluded it by saying the shortest format of the game as a brutal one.
Here’s his tweet
As it happened
Virat Kohli’s RCB won the toss and sent MI to bat first. Despite losing two big wickets for zero runs, MI posted a dominating total of 213/6, thanks to the brutal hitting by Rohit Sharma and Evin Lewis. Coming to the chase, RCB failed badly barring Virat Kohli’s knock of 92*(62). All other RCB batsmen failed to live up to expectations including AB de Villiers. Eventually, RCB lost the game by 46 runs.
