IPL 2018: MS Dhoni's sensational turnaround impresses Aakash Chopra
He also praised the batting line-up of CSK.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are the table toppers currently in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) with 6 wins after playing eight matches. They have found a match-winner in every game and the way MS Dhoni has been led the side is exceptional. He has also found his groove with the bat and is in the middle of one of the best seasons in recent years. However, the former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra is in awe of Dhoni’s batting form and has termed his turn-around as sensational.
Chopra is currently working with Star Sports who are the official broadcaster of the IPL and is covering all the aspects of the matches in Hindi. He believed that it is the strong batting unit of CSK which has worked wonders for them. The likes of Shane Watson, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu and Dhoni have been in scintillating form with the bat which has gunned down the totals around 190 to 210.
Chopra praises Mahi
Aakash Chopra admitted that MS Dhoni was struggling a year ago but was impressed the way he has turned it around in the shortest format.
“I am pleasantly surprised. If you have asked me this question about a year ago, I would have said, things are not looking great. He is taking too much time, maybe the T20 format is no longer his primary format because what he could do at 25, he is not able to do at 35. But then, the way he has turned it around, the second wind seems to be stronger than the first and he has rewound the clock. It is absolutely sensational,” he said on the launch of ‘Aakash Chopra Official App’.
He also termed the batting line-up as one of the strongest in the tournament and believed that they can score over 200 runs almost everytime. “Chennai Super Kings is one side who are playing with only five batsmen and they are still good enough to score 200 runs, nine out of 10 times. So they (CSK), currently, are the best batting unit in the IPL,” Chopra added.
