IPL 2018: Price tag isn't a burden for Jaydev Unadkat
Jaydev Unadkat was bought for 11.5 crores by the Rajasthan Royals.
Jaydev Unadkat made his international debut against South Africa way back in 2010. However, due to lack of consistency and fitness, he couldn’t quite cement his spot in the Indian lineup. The Porbandar-born pacer was also not a regular feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, the previous year turned his fortunes around to a large extent. The left-arm bowler played for the Rising Pune Supergiant under the leadership of Steve Smith and performed exceptionally.
He turned out to be the second-highest wicket taker in the tournament with 24 wickets in 12 games. Moreover, he notched a hat-trick against the Sunrisers Hyderabad which brought him into the limelight. Subsequently, he was drafted into the national T20I team. Moreover, he was bagged by the Rajasthan Royals for a whopping INR 11.5 crores in the auction of the 2018 edition of the IPL.
“Don’t have any pressure”- Unadkat
He recently mentioned that his mind is devoid of any pressure despite going big. “It is an awesome feeling as a bowler, as I was picked for such a high price. I think my hard work has been accepted. Irrespective of the price tag, I need to perform well on the field. I don’t have any pressure. I am in good form and I’m looking forward to the challenges. I will put in extra effort during the IPL,” Unadkat was quoted as saying by Sportstar in an exclusive interview.
The Indian fast-bowler also said that the franchise will miss Steve Smith, who they retained during the retention ceremony. He also sounded excited about having Ajinkya Rahane as the captain of the Royals.
“Definitely, we will be missing him. But now, we have Ajinkya as captain. He has a good experience of leading the Indian team on many occasions. The team is excited to play under his guidance,” he added.
