IPL 2018: Rajasthan Royals announces the replacement for Zahir Khan
Royals will play their next game against Delhi Daredevils in Jaipur.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) have lost their opening game of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Their problems were compounded when the Chinaman bowler of Afghanistan Zahir Khan was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury. The franchise needed to include the new player as soon as possible in order to resurrect their problems soon. However, they have signed the top T20 bowler Ish Sodhi as the replacement of Zahir Khan which looks a decent one.
Sodhi is currently the world number 4 bowler in the T20 Internationals and he has ruled the top position for a long period of time. Everyone had expressed shock after he went unsold during the mega-auction earlier this year when he was the number 1 bowler in the format. Though good players never stay out of the action and the same has happened with Sodhi as he will be eyeing to perform well for his new franchise.
Sodhi’s T20 record
Ish Sodhi is one of the best leg-spinners going around in the world cricket currently and his record in the T20 matches prove the same. He has played 26 T20Is so far in his career and has picked 36 wickets at an average of 19.33 and strike rate of 15.6. While his economy of 7.43 is a little bit on the higher side, but the way he makes an impact on the game is crucial. Also, as far as his overall T20 record is considered, he has scalped 102 wickets in 92 matches and has a six-wicket haul to his name (6/11).
However, Sodhi will be itching to get on the field for Royals and prove his mettle with the ball. It is not yet known though when he will arrive in India as the leggie also had a great time during the World T20 in the same country in 2016.
