The Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers came to the fore yet again, this time it was Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore’s batsmen who were crushed by tournament’s best bowling unit. Chasing against the SRH bowlers has always been a daunting task but Kohli after winning the toss decided to take the challenge on.

Thrown to bat first, SRH lost the openers early. However, skipper Kane Williamson added 64 runs with Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan to take the team in a commanding position. The RCB bowlers stuck right back in the last 4 overs of the innings, conceding just 32 runs as they restricted SRH for 146 runs.

Bowlers rise yet again for SRH

SRH having defended smaller targets in the recent past looked in trouble when skipper Virat Kohli looked in no trouble at all scoring briskly. Kohli targeted Shakib Al Hasan’s over as he collected 15 runs in the 5th over. Along with Manan Vohra, Kohli added 36 runs where the right-handed batter contributed just 5 runs.

Vohra’s wicket gave the SRH bowlers an opening when the batter chopped-on to a Sandeep Sharma delivery. Kohli was given a life in the slip by the skipper but failed to utilize the chance he was gobbled by Yusuf Pathan at the short third man.

Rashid Khan hits the timber against de Villiers

However, the moment of the match was yet to come. Kohli was joined by AB De Villiers who had been in a tremendous form had the responsibility to take the team through in the run chase. But the batsman was left bamboozled by a Rashid Khan wrong’un as he went to cut a ball which was not there to cut. The 19-year old Khan threw back-to-back wrong’uns which de Villiers failed to read as his stumps were shattered.

The wicket of AB de Villiers led further downfall as RCB kept losing wickets. Kiwi all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme along with Mandeep Singh provided some resistant but were eventually ended up 5 runs short against the likes of Kaul and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the final overs.
