Sam Billings won the hearts on the field when he scored a quickfire fifty against Kolkata Knight Riders, thereby won the game for his team Chennai Super Kings. Exactly 24 hours after the game, Billings won the hearts off the field by tweeting about the ongoing Cauvery controversy in Chennai.

The English batsman took to Twitter and wrote that he was feeling very sad about the venue shift, he also added that the Chepauk crowd was electrifying. He was also disturbed by the news of a fan getting badly hurt during the protests. Lastly, he wished that the ongoing controversy ends soon.

He wrote, “Gutted that we have had to move from Chepauk, the atmosphere was unbelievable! Thoughts with the fan who was badly hurt last night, no one should go to watch & end up in hospital. Hope he recovers soon & all issues are resolved. Keep supporting us it makes a huge difference!”
