The new media rights acquired by Star India will make the team richer by a big margin. This has ensured that teams spend their full auction purse of 80 crores. The likes of Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab too have come to the party and have exhausted their purse. Sanju Samson, one of the exciting talents for Rajasthan Royals was bought by the franchise for a whopping 8 crores.
Fine touch
The wicket-keeper batsman has looked in good touch in the 2018 season. He is a clean striker of the ball and plays some delightful cricketing strokes. In the game against RCB, he took the attack to the opposition and scored 92 runs that eventually made the difference. The Royals face KKR in their next game in Jaipur and Samson wants to continue their momentum.
“We will keep things simple and the plans will be similar to the last game. We will have the same enthusiasm, to win another match, in Jaipur. Coming back to Jaipur is a positive sign for Rajasthan Royals and we hope to maintain the winning run.” Samson was quoted as saying by sportstarlive.com.
The Royals have had a packed schedule so far with back to back matches. Players have very little time off and then need to recover very fast to be prepared for the next time. A proper training schedule ensures that players remain fit and prepared for the following games.
Samson’s performance has been praised by several former cricketers. Shane Warne, the mentor for the RR, praised Samson for his match-defining knock against RCB. However, the wicketkeeper must get over it to focus on his next assignment against KKR. The game is being touted as a contest between Nitish Rana and him, and Sanju thanks the rich domestic structure for producing talented cricketers.
The youngster needs to keep contributing with the bat to get positive results for his team. Players like Ajinkya Rahane and Ben Stokes haven’t broken the shackles yet and it is important for Samson to cover up for them until they return to their best.
