IPL 2018: Had told Fleming I would like to bat higher, reveals MS Dhoni

Veteran Indian cricketer MS Dhoni has been in a sensational run of form in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. Dhoni has given glimpses of some serious hitting in the tournament. Currently, as on May 11, 2018, Dhoni leads the charts for the most number of sixes hit in the competition this year. The Chennai Super Kings skipper has hit 28 sixes in the tournament already and is looking good for more.
His sublime form has helped his team get motivated as well. A lot of Chennai Super Kings players have credited their success in the competition to MS Dhoni. They have openly spoken about how Dhoni has been motivating them by leading right from the front. After having played 11 matches in the tournament thus far, MS Dhoni has accumulated 393 runs at a staggering average of 98.25. He has a batting strike rate of over 163 and has registered 3 fifties in the season already.
Recently, prior to the game against the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur, Dhoni was asked about his batting form. The veteran cricketer admitted that his promotion in the batting order has certainly helped him get better with his form. Also, he revealed that prior to the commencement of the tournament, he has requested the CSK head coach, Stephen Fleming, to let him bat higher in the batting order.
“Before the start of the IPL I spoke to Fleming and said to him I would like to bat higher. As I bat more and more, I can give you good returns and it was a gamble he took,” MS Dhoni quoted.
On the changes made
On a similar note, MS Dhoni was asked about the changes that he made to his game plan and the batting styles. A very modest Dhoni quipped, “Not a lot (of changes).” Well, by the look of things, one can safely assume that Dhoni has been spending a lot of time in the gym for sure.
