IPL 2018: Top 10 Players with most 50s in the tournament

Warner has recently led Australia to a T20I series victory and the Sunrisers would be hoping for the Kangaroo to fire on all cylinders in the upcoming season. 2. He started his campaign playing for the Delhi Daredevils and impressed right away. However, he moved to the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2011 and was crowned as the leader of the Shah Rukh Khan-owned team. The veteran has played 148 games and has racked up 35 fifty-plus scores. The Delhi cricketer has also led KKR to victories in 2012 and 2014 by beating Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab respectively. However, he has shifted back to his previous franchise- Delhi Daredevils for the upcoming season. Gambhir is 36 years old and with a limited amount of cricket ahead of him, the Delhiites will be looking to finish his career on a high. 3. The Delhi cricketer has represented them for ten seasons and is the only player in the Indian Premier League who hasn’t been auctioned yet. The batsman also has racked 34 fifty-plus scores in 149 games. The Indian skipper is the first player to rack four centuries in one season and has also captained his side with authority. RCB had a mediocre season in 2017 and the franchise will be looking to storm back with Kohli in the side. The cricketer has been in prime form off-late and would be looking to replicate his stupendous touch in the eleventh season. 4. Rohit Sharma – 33 Rohit Sharma of Mumbai Indians. The Mumbai cricketer commenced his IPL career for the Deccan Chargers and played some sterling knocks for the franchise. He moved to the Mumbai Indians in 2011 and later captained his team to three IPL titles in 2013, 2015 and 2017. Meanwhile, he became the first IPL skipper to achieve the feat. The right-handed batsman also has played 159 games and has racked up 33 fifty-plus scores in the tournament. Mumbai Indians are the defending champions and will again be a force to reckon with in the upcoming edition of the event. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma will again be a vital cog in their lineup. 5. The Uttar Pradesh cricketer has played the most number of games thus far in the tournament and has notched 32 fifty-plus scores in 161 games. The left-handed batsman represented the Chennai Super Kings for eight seasons. However, following CSKs suspension, he played for the Gujarat Lions and captained them for a couple of seasons. Nevertheless, he has been retained by the CSK franchise ahead of the eleventh season of the T20 extravaganza. The batsman has recently made his return to the Indian team after a year and has looked in decent touch with the willow. 6. Shikhar Dhawan – 28 David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan SRH. He has represented four teams in the tournament- Deccan Chargers, Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians and the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has racked 28 fifty-plus scores in 127 games and has shown consistency with the willow. The cricketer started his career for the Daredevils and emerged as their second highest run-scorer. He also played a couple of seasons for the Mumbai Indians and also represented the Deccan Chargers. He was bagged by the Sunrisers in 2013 and has been an integral part of the lineup since then. The franchise released him ahead of the Auctions and subsequently was bagged by Kings XI Punjab. However, the Sunrisers used the RTM on the cricketer and retained him. 7. The Jamaican commenced his career in the Indian Premier League playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders. However, he was released by KKR and subsequently was roped in by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the fourth season. The swashbuckling batsman has played 101 games in the tournament and has 26 fifty-plus scores. The Windies cricketer is also the highest six-hitter (265) and the leading century-maker (5) in the league. After being released by the franchise, Gayle will represent Kings XI Punjab in the eleventh season. The left-hander remained unsold for the first couple of times in the auction. However, after Punjab’s bid on the player, there a round of applause from dignitaries present at the event. 8. He has also done exceptionally well in the Indian Premier League. He was drafted in by the Mumbai Indians and played three seasons for them. However, he didn’t get suffice opportunities for the Mukesh Ambani-owned franchise. He was bagged by the Rajasthan Royals in 2011 and hasn’t looked back ever since. After, Rajasthan’s suspension, the Mumbai-born batsman played for the Rising Pune Supergiants in 2016 and 2017 respectively. The Indian batsman has played 111 games in which he has notched 26 fifty-plus scores. He was released by the Royals, however, bagged him from the Kings XI Punjab for four crores using the Right to Match (RTM) card. 9. AB de Villiers – 25 Ab De Villiers RCB. He made his debut for the Delhi Daredevils in 2008. He scored a stupendous ton in the season thereafter which grabbed the headlines. The cricketer was roped in by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011 and has been a vital cog in the setup. The South African batsman has played 129 matches in the T20 tournament and has 25 fifty-plus scores to his name which includes three jaw-dropping centuries. The Proteas batsman been retained by the franchise and is expected to play a major role in the upcoming campaign. Meanwhile, RCB would be hoping for de Villiers to recover steadily from his knee injury. 10. However, he has been a stupendous performer in the IPL. The Karnataka cricketer has heaped runs in 149 games and has 22 fifty-plus scores to his name. The cricketer has started for the Mumbai Indians and played a couple of seasons for them. However, he shifted to Royal Challengers Bangalore and emerged as a clean striker of the leather. Thereafter, he played three seasons for Pune Warriors. However, after Pune’s suspension, he has been a crucial component of the Kolkata Knight Riders.
