IPL 2018: Worst XI of the League stage
Here we look at the promising names who let their teams and fans down in the league stages of the IPL 2018.
Glenn Maxwell – Delhi Daredevils
Australia batsman Glenn Maxwell is often revered as one of the most attacking batsmen in the shortest format of the game. The Delhi Daredevils shelled out INR 9 crore to bag his services at the auction. But they were largely let down by the way Maxwell fared up in the competition. The team management showed immense faith in him but in vain.
He was tried at different positions in the batting order but nothing worked for Maxwell. In all, he featured in 12 matches for the Daredevils in the season and ended up scoring just 169 runs. His batting average was a pathetic 14.08. He failed to score even a single fifty in the season.
Wriddhiman Saha – Sunrisers Hyderabad
The 2018 edition of the IPL was a happy hunting ground for the wicketkeepers. While most wicketkeepers made merry either with the bat or with the gloves, Wriddhiman Saha had a forgetful outing in the season. Saha donned the gloves for the Sunrisers Hyderabad this season.
He featured in 10 matches for the side before making way for Sreevats Goswami in the lineup. Saha’s top score in the season was just 24. He failed to get going as an opener, and struggled in the middle order as well. In addition to that, his wicketkeeping did not look very impressive either.
