IPL 2018: Young South African cricketer wants AB de Villiers to be in Avengers
De Villiers was in scintillating touch with the bat as well.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) triumphed sensationally in a high-scoring encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Thursday. The spectators were treated with a humdinger as the likes of AB de Villiers and Kane Williamson put on an exhibition of the masterclass with the bat at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, it was the fantabulous catch of the former on the field which left everyone in awe of him as the young South African cricketer Sibonelo Makhanya wants him to be in the Avengers for his Superhuman effort.
The defence of 219 runs on a small ground was always going to be difficult for the home side and expectedly the batsmen came hard at them. Moreover, Alex Hales was dropped by the skipper Virat Kohli which didn’t help their cause as he started hunting the leather. But the eighth over of the innings turned the game on its head when De Villiers, fielding at deep mid-wicket, jumped like a Superman (rather Spiderman according to Kohli) to catch the ball which was travelling into the stands.
It literally left everyone shell-shocked as his teammates ran towards him even as Kohli’s reaction to it was absolutely gold. The catch was huge in the context of the match as Hales was going berserk and could’ve taken the game away from them very quickly.
Even the Twitter was flooded with reactions and no wonder the tweets from South Africa were flowing. The young South African all-rounder Sibonelo Makhanya was just in awe of his countrymate after watching the catch and had a special tweet for him. “@ABdeVilliers17 should be in the Avengers! He is a superhuman! #RCBvSRH #IPL2018,” he tweeted.

ABD’s batting masterclass
AB de Villiers had a superb day with the bat as well. After coming on to bat in the second over itself, he got stuck into the bowlers in the powerplay and got himself going from the word go. He was literally unstoppable and the young Basil Thampi had to face the heat while bowling to him. He smacked only a solitary maximum during his stay in the middle but that too went out of the ground. Eventually, it needed a special catch from Shikhar Dhawan to dismiss him but not before scoring 69 runs off just 39 balls.
